My Front Cover Magazine Ideas

Idea one-
Niche
Target audience: 16-24 year olds
Gender: Males mainly
Sub-genre: Hip hop and R n B
Title of magazine: ‘Reppin’ it’
Connotations: ‘Passionate about rhymes and beats, passionate about the things they sing and rap about. The word ‘reppin’ apparently mean bringing together so this name could also connote the bringing together of people who love hip hop and R ‘n’ B music.
Main Cover Image: Street-looking, high key lighting. Use colours such as blues, reds, oranges, yellow, black, white, silver/gold. Picture of a rapper stood up, arms folded, side-view, looking at the camera. Text will go on the opposite side; Jeans, gelled hair, t-shirt, maybe a leather jacket. Border on the bottom the cover showing other features. Masthead will be in top left hand corner, Pull quote across rapper’s chest.
Main headline: “Music changed my life, I’d be knickin’ purses if it weren’t for my music!”

Idea two-
Mainstream
Target audience:
16-24 year olds
Gender: Both males and females
Sub-genre: Range of various sub-genres-
Alternate, rock, hip hop/r’n’b, grime, classical
Title of the magazine: ‘Hexagon’
Connotations: Connotations of this would be that a hexagon has 6 sides; well there are 6 sides to music expressed in this magazine. Each side of the hexagon represents a different sub-genre.
Main cover Image: Band member stood with another musician-either from another band or rapper. Dressed depending on the sub-genre of music there is a part of; if a rapper, baggy trouses/jeans, expensive trainers, maybe a vest top or a just a t-shirt. Gelled hair/hat, wearing jewellery. Band member, if indie band, then skinny jeans and shirt, colours such as black, blue, brown. A leather or normal ‘hoody’ jacket. Converse shoes. Grime, colours such as green, brown, yellow and gold/silver. Hoody/jacket with hood, cap, expensive clothing and shoes; baggy jeans. If it’s real rock band member, long hair, shirt/t-shirt, baggy jeans/maybe skinny. Colour is black, maybe a casual jacket. If it’s a classical musician, formal dress-sense, light colours, maybe a suit if it’s a male. Text will appear at either side of the two musicians, who will be centred in the middle of the cover. Masthead at the top in the middle, above the people on the cover. Border at the bottom of the image advertising features of the magazine.
Main Headline: “Collaborating artists are throwing a new edge on what you call music!”

Idea three-
Niche
Target audience:
16-24 year olds
Gender: Males mainly
Sub-genre: Alternate/Indie
Title of the magazine: ‘Eccentric’
Connotations: The connotations of this are that the music featured in this magazine is very different and unique, it is worth looking at.
Main cover Image: A indie music band or musician centred in the middle of the image. Skinny jeans, jacket hoodies or leather jackets with shirts. Dark colours, such as black, navy blue, green and brown, and also maroon. These colours connote a sense of what teenagers see as being ‘cool’. Messy hair styles, long hair, preferable. Arm folded or hands in their pockets. Text will appear at either side of the people on the cover, a masthead in the top left hand-corner, with a small border leading out of it. A border at the bottom of the image.
Main headline: “…The Libertines, The Manic Street Preachers-We learnt from the best”
